Michels Homes Receives 2 BATC Foundation Awards

Bob Michels Construction, Inc. was recognized and awarded at the 2015 BATC Foundation Recognition Luncheon for participating in two 2014 BATC Foundation projects. The BATC (Builders Association of the Twin Cities) Foundation is a non-profit organization composed of BATC members and supporters. Their mission is to work in partnership with others to revitalize communities and create safe, quality, and affordable housing.

The first project that Bob Michels Construction, Inc. was recognized and awarded for was for acting as a Build Partner with Special Spaces Minneapolis in the BATC Foundation sponsored Dream Room Makeover for “Kate The Great.” Special Spaces gives room makeovers to those suffering from life-threatening illnesses. Kate was diagnosed at birth with Type II Pfeiffer Syndrome, a genetic disorder that is characterized by premature fusion of certain skull bones. Caity Michels took the lead on design and Bob Michels Construction, Inc. assisted with the construction. The new room features custom Dura Supreme Cabinetry, which is used to store Kate’s medical equipment and allows for additional play space. This was an awesome opportunity and fun project to work on. See below a photo of Bob and Caity Michels with “Kate The Great” and a few snapshots of the room makeover.

The second project that Bob Michels Construction, Inc. was recognized and awarded for was for being selected as a BATC Foundation Dream Remodeled Home in the 2014 Parade of Homes Fall Remodelers Showcase. All visitors of Dream Homes are asked to pay a $5.00 admission fee to tour the home. All proceeds were donated to the BATC Foundation to continue their efforts of building and remodeling homes for area families in need. The home we showcased was a 1987-built French Country Cottage that overlooks James J. Hill historic farm barn, creamery, and blacksmith shop. This was a total interior home remodel that was planned in phases with a ‘grand plan’ in mind. Our goal was to create consistency between the floors while not compromising the exterior. This was an awesome opportunity to showcase our work. We had a great turnout at the 3-day event and we appreciate all of those that came and toured the home! See below a few before and after photos of the home that was showcased, and for more photos of the home click here.
